Technical Training Instructor
(Assigned to AT&T as equivalent to their Senior Training Manager inhouse
position)
As a technical instructor I have on a regular
basis been the lead instructor for 7 different technical courses delivered to
new hires and incumbent employees who work in various technician roles.
Travel as required throughout Midwest and Southeast to deliver training
courses where needed. I have been involved with multiple special projects as
well as software/ hardware rollouts as well. They are detailed below
under special projects.
· Responsible
for instructing management and non-management employees on tasks, policies
and procedures associated with specific job titles
· Delivered
various instructional curriculum according to the needs of the client from
Microsoft Office to testing software and GPS/mapping software
· Involved
specific skill sets and utilized various adult instructional techniques as
required
· Required
to provide instruction to external customers on the use of various equipment,
products and services.
· Responsibilities
also included training network personnel in subject matter related to network
engineering, outside plant, cable placement and repair, provisioning and
maintenance, central office operations, driving safety training, and premises
installation and repair
· Maintained
training labs, leaving classroom ready for next training class
· Ordered
materials and training supplies as necessary
· Maintained
CPR Trainer certification (current through 2017)
· Lead
courses for a variety of clients within the AT&T corporation
· Conducted
performance reviews of students, scored and entered those scores into their training
record
· Administered
progressive discipline
· Partnered
with clients to achieve common revenue/service goals
· Worked
closely with design personnel to develop and maintain course materials
including Beta test sessions, update training material as necessary and
posting to Sharepoint
· Conducted
train-the-trainer sessions for other instructors to certify them in various
technical and software training material
· Monitored
progress of students during multiple weeks and multiple curriculum streams to
ensure that technician, once graduated, were well versed and independently
functional on the processes in which they were trained.
Special Projects
· Built/rebuilt
labs according to specifications to provide technical troubleshooting
opportunities to technicians in training.
· Strike
Contingency Training: This special project included receiving office
management personnel from clerks to SrVP’s into a class of 48 students, that
created and developed their skills to allow for continued day to day
operations in a Business As Usual environment in the event of strike by
union workers. This involved reducing a typical 8 week course into a 5
day crash course and ensuring that each employee in attendance was capable of
performing the role of various technicians for not only continued day to day
operations, but additional customer home network installation to meet
AT&T’s strict safety, operational and customer education protocols.
· Hardware/Software
(Universal Personal Device) rollout to Southeast Construction Technicians and
Managers. With this project I was one of three Ramsey Enterprises
Instructors utilized in the rollout of a handheld 4G device to approximately
4,000 technicians and their managers. Approximately 75% of these
students/technicians could be classified as novice to intermediate users of
any type of hardware or software to facilitate their day to day work.
Functionality of the hardware capabilities, setup of personal email and
messaging accounts on devices, training on uses of GPS, Imaging and how to
utilize internal maps/plats of hardware owned and deployed by AT&T to
gain information about each device, to locate and to install new hardware and
to configure according to AT&T standards. Total of 7
software products taught during these 2 day sessions. This also involved
travelling, setting up and dismantling of impromptu classrooms, delivering
syllabus and engaging with students about how the new hardware and software
could assist them in doing their jobs and how they could use the product to
report inconsistencies between records and actual property deployed in the
field. The project began in August 2015 and completed June 2016.
Travelled throughout the southeast for approximately 80% of the time during
this project. Was responsible to coordinate all travel, accommodations
and car reservations necessary. Provided advanced notification to
students and their managers enrolled in the courses of date and times of
classes and prerequisites required to attend. Used SAP to certify and
validate their course completion and scores.

Significant Accomplishments
·
Access
Services Department training curve was listed as 1 year. I completed group
training in under 4 months.
·
Reduced
turnaround time from an average of 5 days to 2 days for submitted change
requests. This was done by changing analyst responsibilities from
specialized to all inclusive, developing processes and procedures for
multiple protocols
·
Changed
department’s image of a “black hole” for requests for access, to a functional
and dependable resource for requests by using Service Desk for all requests.
·
After 4
months in department, was left as only analyst on staff. During the
next 4 months, I assisted management in the interviewing of and conducted
training of 4 new analysts. All of this while continuing to provide
daily support of user base of >40,000 employees, often working 80 hrs
weekly.
·
Consolidated
multiple filing systems into one condensed system for easier retrieval of
user access status requests.
·
Created
initial process and procedure documentation for all procedures related to
Access Services department. This was used as training material for new
employees as well as compliancy of Sarbanes Oxley and Office of General
Counsel directives.
·
